transeuropa has been taking place in Hildesheim every three years since 1994. Each year the festival had different partner countries.
For eight days transeuropa 2003 transformed the city of Hildesheim into a field for European newcomer artists from Norway, Estonia, Switzerland and Germany under the artistic supervision of Carolin Hochleichter: Theatre as a training for reality.
In Hildesheim and in the German pavilion at the Expo 2000 in Hanover transeuropa 2000 presented theatre from Denmark, Russia, Great Britain and Germany under the artistic supervision of Olaf Kröck.
With the help of theatre groups from the Czech Republic, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Germany transeuropa 1997 showed the variety of European theatre.
The first festival in 1994 invited newcomer artists from Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany to Hildesheim.
