Klub Affenkraft (Austria)

AFFKRAFT

A performace collective afflicted with trash-dance-disco-techno airs and graces conqueres the festival.
Klub Affenkraft from Vienna – is an intervetion with laptops, danceart and bass guitar.
For transeuropa2009 the examined sociologists celebrate their wildest party:

AFFKRAFT offers a dadaistic revue show, an appeal to the affective powers of the audience, a flood of theatrical axclamation marks.

performance dates: May 16th, 2009

Ensemble Mirage (Serbia)

Nothing Project

It´s about waiting for something to happen – this is how the Ensemble Mirage describes the topic of their latest production. In the „Nothing Project“ four performers connect their own paths of life with the vita of their state. What is the identity of this time and society? Sometimes full of hope, sometimes naiv or accusatory, the Ensemble uses a physical and vocal approach to search for answers. The young women adapt political issues in Serbia, and draw a parallel between their private complexes and vice versa. There are certain lucid moments, in which real communication happens – these moments are the ones the Ensemble Mirage is waiting for. „Nothing Project“ tells the choreographed story of this waiting.

performance dates: May 17th, 18th 2009
Theaterhaus

Ariane Loze, Rebecca Lenaerts (Belgium)

Where there is beauty, there is a picture

Simply a slideshow: at the beginning of their performance, Lenaerts and Loze work with rather traditional media. But the pictures from fleamarkets, archives and forgotten packing cases soon develop a life of their own. „Where there is beauty, there is a picture“ celebrates the power of interpretation. The artists combine the slides with text- and musicfragments, they associate, recombine and discard, invent new possibilities and make suggestions.A story evolves, that always could be another – a story, that uncovers more about the audience than the protagonistsAriane Loze and Rebecca Lenaerts were invited to a residency at the Pact-Zollverein Essen with this production. There „Where there is beauty...“ will be completed. Afterwards the project will premiere at transeuropa2009.

Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi (Turkey)

Mehmet loves Peace

The company Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi („barefoot company“) around the choreographer Mihran Tomasyan pursues the question of tolerance in Turkey. „Mehmet loves Peace“ is based on an actual event: Mehmet Tarhan, a homosexual Kurd and pacifist refuses military service – and thereupon was put into militaryprison. Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi gathers from the fate of an individual to the society. In their multimedia-based performance the company mixes dance with elements of theatre, film and visual arts. Thus they create an atmosphere in which claustrophobic intensity and subversive humor meet.

performance dates: May 14th,15th 2009

Dot Theatre (Turkey)

The Storyteller

concept/direction:
Murat Daltaban

Dot Theatre wants to narrate. Based on the Film „Last year in Marienbad“ by Alain Resnais the group creates a whole new poetic: „The Storyteller“ is a collage of the film`s storyline in moving pictures, sounds and spoken word. The inside of a church becomes the setting of the material – film excerpts are projected onto the walls and windows, sounds wander between the wooden pews, as a central theme the text floats over the whole scene. The story itself turns into the protagonist in this performance

performance dates: May, 19th, 20th 2009

Quartett PLUS 1 and Vladimier Miller (Germany)

stills from a song

Music and video normally only meet in postproduction
– a film is set to music, a video is
made for a song. In »stills from a song« five
performers develop a live-music video of a different
kind. The string quartet and Vladimir
Miller dare the plunge of intermedial communication
and pitch a feature-length mix based on
Bach, Purcell, Rzewski und Black, whose cast
shadows, contortions and reductions are resumed
and regenerated in the pictures. Inspired
by Minimalism and Fluxus an audio and visual
piece unfolds, that not only illustrates but expands
the perception of each of the other medium.
In addition to their performance at transeuropa2009
Quartett PLUS 1 and Vladimir Miller
will play in the premises of Sachsenring on May
21st and 22nd.

performance dates: May 19th, 2009
Sachsenring

Ana Vujanović(Serbia)

A Tiger´s Leap into the Past (lecture an discussion)

"A Tiger´s Leap into the past" disguises itself as a survey of the serbian dance scene. But in their interviews with dancers, choreographers, componists and scientists, Ana Vujanović and Saša Asentić present an image that contradicts the historical perception. From individual opinions soon a truth forms up that accomplishes more than a mere summary. The lecture not only shows a new perspective on its subject-matter, it also changes the outlook on its genre.

performance date: May 14th
Theaterhaus

Saša Asentić

My private biopolitics

author und performer:
Saša Asentić

assistant:
Olivera Kovačević-Crnjanski

dramaturgy:
Ana Vujanović

Sasa Asentic provokes the international comparison. The self-taught theatremaker deals with the conditions under which he works in Serbia (the former Yugoslavia):
Should he broach the issue of his origin and make himself interesting for the curators? Or should he rather avail himself of the current hype, in order not to fall out of the eventsplanners´ scedules?
The performer reflects a system of signs and haptic cross-references. Every gesture, every reference adds its piece of mosaic to the discourse, that Asentic uncoils.
„My private biopolitics“ not only deals with the arbitariness the european aesthetic-dictate, but asks about the self-image and the ethics of every artist.

„My private biopolitics“ is part of the project INDIGO DANCE

Performance Date May 15th
Theaterhaus

In addition to his guest performance Sasa Asentic, together with his colleague Ana Vujanovic, will offer a workshop for dancers and performers on May 16th.

workshop: Kulturfabrik Löseke

Turbo Pascal (Germany)

Wir Werden Wieder Wer Gewesen Sein

Reffering to the series ‘60 years Germany – approach to an uneasy identity’ at the Schaubühne/Berlin Turbo Pascal has staged a hazy ceremonial act around the question, who will we have been. Has the federal republic with its so called ‘successful’ democracy reason for celebration? And if so, how have we acquired national and individual democracy? The audience is seated in a classroom-like setting with long blackboards in which reading and writing, voting, putting your hand up and using the future tense are being practiced together. Turbo pascal put their own democracy- and future viability to the test - along with their fellow citizens. The discursive theater of Turbo Pascal meets the minimalistic music of Friedrich Greiling who tries to ‘capture the feeling with poor means and cheap tricks’

Based on their performance Turbo Pascal will exclusively moderate the format „Bürgersitzung“ for transeuropa2009.
Following the event „Bürgersitzung/ Citizen Conference Hildesheim“ this production will be shown in Hildesheim.

Performance dates: May 16th, 17th 2009

Wolfram Sander (Germany)

SirenSongs

Mythology meets loop-machine: Sander revives the siren songs. The voices force of seductionand its threat potential are the center of the program. Live recorded and then altered the organ develops a life of its own and becomes a theatrical element.
In this One-Man-Band-Performance every scenic action translates into music, every musical action narrates itself visually.
Through light-cues and sound-effects the performer changes the space and creates an unobtrusive maelstrom, that allows the audience to focus on what is essential: the single sound.

performance dates: May 16th and 20th 2009

Walls and mistrust: in an interactive Performance. Less Mess experiments with demarcation and its outcome.

With the guiding idea of realizing the experience of a territorial division, Less Mess begins a game about territorial claims and communication problems.
The audience becomes the protagonist. The world becomes a matter of negotiation.

Europe is a game an we are the contestants. Together with the FISTFestival Belgrad transeuropa2009 presents its grand differentiation show!
