FRIEDERIKE HABERMANN: The multiple crisis and us.
Crisis of environment and climate, financial-, hunger- or economical crisis, crisis of the exhausted self: Each day, the focus of attention lies on a different aspect of this multiple crisis. If anyone is able to recover in between, it is economy at most. And if you believe the news, the only thing that really counts is the growth of the gross national product. But why is it, that humankind is serving the economy and not the other way around? Why do we take for granted, that nowadays it is considered easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism? In short: why don’t we shape the world as we like it?
